Bad Weather Policy
- At the first sound of thunder or sighting of lightning, the pool, deck, and surrounding area must be cleared of people. People should report to their cars. A 30-minute waiting period is to be enforced before swimmers may begin to swim after the last sighting of lightning or sound of thunder.
- If several 30 minute delays have occurred, a postponement of the meet is to be decided by the coaches, meet director, and the GRAL & parent representatives from each club.
- The League encourages teams to wait out the storm delay and finish the meet. Information on storms in the area and remaining time necessary to complete the meet should be taken into consideration.
- If the meet is postponed, it must be rescheduled at the earliest possible date acceptable to both teams.
- Meet and practice changes will be posted online at the Kings Charter swim team website: www.KCSwimTeam.com and on the Swim Team Hotline at (804) 888-8560.
Code of Conduct
Good sportsmanship is of primary importance. Respectful behavior on the part of swimmers, parents, and coaches should be displayed at all times and places. Team membership is both an honor and a responsibility and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
The coaches are responsible for the behavior of his/her team at practice and at meets. The parent representative is responsible for the behavior of the coaches. Parents need to demonstrate self control at meets to ensure that children are respectful of their peers and of authority. The referee has the authority to suspend a swim meet for any unsportsmanlike behavior.
Remember, this swim league exists for the sport of swimming and the enjoyment of our children. Please strive as parents, coaches and swimmers to focus on this fact and encourage an enjoyable experience for all.
Parents, should you have any questions or complaints at a meet concerning the officiating, you need to discuss it with our Head Coach and not with the individual official. The Head Coach will take your complaint to the referee whose job it is to settle any disputes. The Head Coach will inform you of any decision or change. If you have any complaints about behavior or questions about coaching, discuss them promptly with the Parent Rep. Her job is to serve as a liaison between the parents and coaches. Please do not disturb the coaches when they are working on deck. They need to be focused on the swimmers in the pool at all times. Each coach has a file folder in the box at the pool for messages.
