To all Swimmers and their Families,

Welcome to the Tidal Waves 2010 swim team! We are looking forward to a fun and successful swim team season.

The mission of our swim team is to help our kids be active, strong, and water-safe, to strengthen neighborhood bonds and promote community spirit. Through the guidance of our dedicated and skilled coaches and parents we also strive to improve stroke technique and teach fairness and sportsmanship.

We are thrilled to have John Millen and Brandon Carr returning as Co-Head Coaches this year! Coach John teaches and coaches swimming at Patrick Henry High School. He is a University of Virginia graduate and 2-time Olympic Trial Swimmer. Coach Brandon attends and swims for West Virginia University. He grew up swimming for the Tidal Waves and has served as a coach for three years. In addition, we have Meredith Roemer joining our staff as an Assistant Coach. She is a student at the University of Virginia and former swimmer for both the Ashland Barracudas and Patrick Henry High School. Lizzie Leitch will round out the coaching staff, returning as a Junior Coach, working with the ten and under swimmers. All of our coaches are so excited and eager to begin the season!

We want to welcome all of our new parents, and remind you that we were all there at one time. We know you will have many questions throughout the season, and we are here to help you along the way. For all of the returning parents and swimmers, get ready, because we are going to have the best season ever!

We’d like to remind everyone that any issues, questions, or concerns, including those for coaches, should be directed to one of us. We will relay the information to the proper people; help with any problems that arise, and assure that your needs are met. There are many systems and services in place to do just that. Each coach and family will have a mail folder at the pool. You are welcome to communicate in this fashion, but please do not approach the coaches during practices or meets in order to avoid interruptions. There are many swimmers and only four of them. Thanks so much for this consideration.

Once again, welcome, and let’s have the best season ever!
