To all Swimmers and their Families,
Welcome to the Tidal Waves 2012 swim team! We are looking forward to a fun and successful swim team season.
The mission of our swim team is to help our kids be active, strong, and water-safe, to strengthen neighborhood bonds and promote community spirit. Through the guidance of our dedicated and skilled coaches and parents we also strive to improve stroke technique and teach fairness and sportsmanship.
We are thrilled to have Brandon Carr returning as Head Coach this year! Coach Brandon has had an incredible collegiate swimming career at West Virginia University where he will be graduating from this spring. He grew up swimming for the Tidal Waves and has served as a coach for five years. Sara Conner and Martin Vanis will be joining us this year both as assistant coaches. They are both successful collegiate swimmers, come with many years of teaching swim lessons and coach experience. Taylor Carr will be returning again as a Junior Coach, working with the ten and under swimmers. Taylor is graduating this year from Atlee High School, has taught swim lessons at Burkwood Aquatic Club, and has many years of swimming experience with the Tidal Waves, Atlee High, and BAC. All of our coaches are so excited and eager to begin the season!
We want to welcome all of our new parents, and remind you that we were all there at one time. We know you will have many questions throughout the season, and we are here to help you along the way. For all of the returning parents and swimmers, get ready, because we are going to have the best season ever!
Below is some specific contact information if you should have any questions.
Shane DeWitt - Coach liaison (sdewitt@woodsideequineclinic.com)
- for any questions, comments or concerns about the coaches.
Cindy Amatruda - Parent rep
- for questions or concerns that arise during a meet.
Brandon Carr - Head coach (kcswimmteam@aol.com)
- for any questions or issues about your child’s swimming (or feel free to leave a note in the coaches folder located at the pool by the entrance way).
We also ask you to please remember NOT to approach the coaches during practices or meets in order to avoid interruptions. There are many swimmers and only four of them. Also, please remember to respect their personal time as they are not to be contacted by their personal cell phones or home phones for any reason. Any family abusing this risks being asked to leave the team. These systems and services have been set up to help you and to assure that your needs will be met. Thanks so much for this consideration.
Once again, welcome, and let’s have the best season ever!
